When I was Obsessed with Dead by Daylight
There was a time when I was really into the video game Dead by Daylight. Specifically, I played survivor. (It was during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was a pandemic hobby.) If you don’t know, Dead by Daylight is a horror video game in which people either play co-op as 4 survivors or they play solo trying to kill all of the survivors as a killer. The survivors must escape by repairing 5 out of the 7 generators located throughout the map. Once all 5 generators are repaired and back up and running, the exit gates are powered, and the survivors must escape through 1 of the 2 gates.
Dead by Daylight is a really great game in many senses. First, if your fantasy is to be a horror villain, not only can you do that, but you could even be play as iconic horror villains such as Michael Myers from the Halloween movies, Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies, Freddy Kreuger from the Nightmare on Elm Street movies, the pig / Amanda Young from the Saw movies, Ghost Face from the Scream movies, Pyramid Head from the Silent Hill video games, Nemesis from the Resident Evil video games, Pinhead from the Hellraiser movies, and more. There are also original Dead by Daylight killer characters as well. So you can live out all of your horror villain fantasies.
Or, if your fantasy is to be the hero from the horror movie, you can do that too by playing as a survivor. When I played Dead by Daylight, I played as a survivor, because I wanted to master playing as a survivor before I played as a killer. Playing a survivor in Dead by Daylight truly does fulfill those fantasies of being the hero from a horror movie. I definitely enjoyed enjoyed playing Dead by Daylight when I did play it.
Even though I don’t really play it much anymore, I still love the game, and I love seeing what new killers the developers get and/or create. The gamer I watch play Dead by Daylight is Ohmwrecker / Maskedgamer. Here’s his playlist of him playing Dead by Daylight. I probably should get back to playing Dead by Daylight, because when I did play it, I did get pretty good, and that produced a real satisfaction and pride in accomplishing something, so I might get back to playing it again.
Edit / Update:
I started playing Dead by Daylight again and it took me a bit to get back into how to play it, but once I did, it’s still a lot of fun, and I’ve been enjoying it greatly!
